Welcome to Central Library :

The KIMT Library System initially setup in 2008 consists of a Central Library and 5 departmental libraries including  Management,  Engineering  which collectively support the teaching, research and extension programmes of the Institute. The Library, besides having a huge collection of books on engineering, science, technology, management and humanities offers library services through its various divisions. To make the KIM Library a 21st century Knowledge Centre and to facilitate the transition of today’s engineering society to a knowledge base society of tomorrow. KIMT Central Library is having a large collction of Book more than 22000, and Book Bank having about 12101 text books.

 
 
 

 The KIMT Library have been subscribing 3 Institutional Membership i.e. Developing Library Network (DELNET), EMERALD, Indian National Digital Library for   Engineering Science and Technology (INDEST) IEEE/IEL. The KIMT Library have planned to digitize all in house resources and knowledge generated by the faculty, student of KIMT, after digitization of these resources, accessibility will be provided through Intranet or Internet. Central Library is an integral part of the Institution and imparting its services to students, faculty members and other staff members. I on behalf of library team assure you to offer the best library services. I shall not leave any stone unturned  to achieve the mission of the institute. I also eagerly invite you to participate in the development process of the library

 
     
   Services:  
     
 

 Library Catalogue (OPAC) The library offers computerized catalogue search services through the OPAC. The bibliographic record consisting of more than 33000 books available in the Central Library. Sufficient number of PCs are placed in the user area for the students and faculty to access the OPAC. Our Library Catalogue can also be searched through web .

 
 

Self Circulation System: The Central Library have been using Ramie Library Management Software which offers self issue / return service to its user. Users can get issue the required books by their self in the presence of counter staff. Library is also facilitating you to reserve any book, which is already issued to some one, that book will not be re-issued to him. The book will be kept for you for one week at reserve counter, if you will fail to collect with in the stipulated period, the same will be shelved in the respective place

 
     
 

Reference Service / NFI Section: Reference staff is also available in the reading room to suggest sources of information and to assist in locating the required material. One copy of each title is kept in NFI / Reserved section for the reference to users with in the library use only. These books can be issued over night only in case of emergency. The total collection of NFI section is 2298 books.

 
     
 

Project Section: Students projects are also kept for reference only with in the library premises. The total collection of Project Section is 200 projects deposited by the students. These projects are strictly not issued nor the photocopy of the same is provided

 
     
 

Reading Facility: The Central Library provides a sufficient space for reading purpose. The total reading area in the library is 750 Sqm. and a sufficient gallery area is also left for frequent movement to the users

 
     
 

Faculty Reading Room: The Central Library provides a sufficient and seprate room for reading purpose to the faculty members.

 
     
 

Inter-library loan :The Central Library offers inter-library loan service to its users for the books and periodicals not available in the KIMT Library by procuring them from other libraries. The KIET library has membership of DELNET and having agreement with to share the resources among member libraries which includes lending its resources to the other libraries.

 
     
 

Audio-visual facility / Multimedia facility: The Central Library provides audio-visual and multimedia facility to its users. One room specially designed meant for accessing Reference Databases, CD's with books, Cd's with magazines etc. A rich collection of CD's, Audio, Video cassettes, floppies etc. is arranged subject wise which can be found very easily.

 
     
 

E-journals / Internet Access facility: The Central Library extends its services to provides the access for internet and e- journals. KIMT Library is subscribing  enough number of e-journals through INDEST Consortium i.e. IEE / IEEE, ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), TLS (Total Library Solutions e-journals on all field of knowledge).

 
     
 

Print journals: Library has been subscribing a lot of good journals in the field of science, engineering, technology, management and humanities. All latest journal can be reffered with in the library for one month, after that the journals have been sent to related department for six month and later on the same got bound year wise. Beside the current journals, library has a rich collection of bound journals.

 
     
 

Photocopy Facility: Two persons have been placed on photocopy services to operate two machines. Based on requisition, Photocopies of the library documents are made available mainly for academic purpose, subject to following conditions:

 
     
   :Documents protected under the Copy Right Act will not be reproduced entirely for personal use.  
     
   :The copying charges are Rs. 1.00 per copy.  
     
 

Book Bank facility: KIMT Central Library has Book Bank having 814 text books. The books from Book Bank is issued to the students for one complete semester.

 
     
 

Question Paper Bank: KIMT Central Library has Question Paper Bank having old question papers of B.Tech and MBA courses for the reference. These can be accessed through our web page online.

 
     
 

Current Awareness Service (CAS): To update our users, library displays a list of Current Addition in the library i.e. books, periodicals, newspapers & magazines etc. Library also provides the newspaper clippings service to keep in mind the intrest and demand of users

 
     
 

/ Property Counter / Belongings Shelves: Library has a property counter at the ground floor of the library to keep the users their restricted material in the shelves. One person have been put on duty to look after the belongings of the users

 
     
 

Users Assistance: All members of the library team are available for any assistance you may need in using the library resources, facilities and services. You are also welcome to offer your suggestions about the same.

 
     
 

Layout Plan: A layout plan prepared for the help of library users to find the right location of section and placemnt of books and resources available in the library. To view the layout plan

 
     

Recommend a Book: All members of the library who wish to add any document i.e. book, journals, newspaper and magazines etc. in the library, may submit their requisition through their respective HOD's. Recommendation form may be collected personally

 
     
 

Online Public Access Catalouge (OPAC):There are two type of sarch facility available through the RAMLIB (Library Management Software) Online via internet and Offline via Intranet campus wide. KIMT Library provides you to search a book by various options i.e. Title, Sub Title, Author Firstname, Author Lastname, Subject Category, Publisher etc. with appropriate condition i.e. Matches, is more than, is less than, sound like etc. A search guide for the help of users has been designed to find a book very easily from the library database. Examples have been given to find a book by subject wise, author wise, Title wise and a latest one. It is mentioned in the help guide how to use the other condition or appropriate criteria to find a exact book out of huge collection.

IEEE / IEE e-journals: , Users Search Guide. , Usage Statistics
IEEE / IEE Electronic Library Online (IEL) provides online access to publications from the IEEE IEE . IEL Online helps you locate journal articles, conference papers and technical standrads onwards 1988 to the present.
IEL Online , which is of part IEEE Xplore, is updated daily for journals and standards and monthly for conferences. The IEEE Xplore interface allows users to search over all content on the site, but only users with an IEL subscription can view abstract and images. KIET Library subscribing IEL journals through INDEST Consortium and total journals are 282.

Inside you will find the latest news and a preview of the year ahead. This includes details of scheduled journal and key book launches, information on developments to our products, service and platform, and a brief update from our offices worldwide. More than 4,500 organizations around the world are Emerald customers, including leading universities and business schools, government departments and publicly listed companies. In 2010 this translated into Emerald articles and chapters being downloaded and read in research and study more than 25 million times.

KIMT Library has been subscribing 84 National, 15 International Journals including the journals provided through the Institutional Membership covering all the fields of Science, Management, Engineering, and Technology. Any Faculty or student may recommend the journals through their respective heads, if they would like to subscribe the same in the library.

DELNET has been in operation since July 2008 and was registered as a society in 1992. It was initially sponsored by the National Information System for Science and Technology (NISSAT), Department of Scientific and Industrial Reseach, Government of India and is currently being promoted by the National Informatics Centre, Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India and India International Centre, New Delhi.

 
     
 

DELNET has been established with the prime objective of promoting resource sharing among the libraries through the development of a network of libraries. It aims to collect, store, and disseminate information besides offering computerised services to users, to coordinate efforts for suitable collection development and also to reduce unnecessary duplication wherever possible.KIMT Central Library is having its annual membership since Jan. 2000 and it is renewed every year. The annual membership fee is Rs. 11500/ for borrowing the books, journals and articles etc. from its member libraries on resources sharing basis. Members of KIET Central Library can utilize this facility through library. The resources available under DELNET network are

The INDEST-AICTE Consortium is the most ambitious initiative taken so far in the country. The benefit of consortia-based subscription to electronic resources is not confined to 38 major technological institutions in the country but is also extended to all AICTE-accredited and UGC-affiliated institutions. More than 100 Engineering colleges and institutions have already joined the consortium on their own. Recently more than 450 engineering colleges and institutions joined under self support- new scheme

 
     
 

KIMT Central Library is having its annual membership since Jan. 2009. The membership fee was Rs.5000/. After obtaining the membership of INDEST-AICTE Consortia KIET Library is deserving to subscribe the e-resources under Consortia.

INDEST has also offer – J-Gate Custom Content for Consortia,(JCCC ) Service which is a customized solution for accessing and sharing journal literature subscribed by all the IITs, IISc and IIMs, individually and collectively through INDEST Consortium. Joining this community of resource sharing consortium are 17 National Institutes of Technology to whom the benefits of JCCC@INDEST is extended as secondary members.

 
     
 

JCCC@INDEST is a common gateway to access 5,676+ e-Journals from 1,028 publishers, subscribed by IITs, IISc. IIMs (15 Libraries). The journals of following INDEST Consortium registered publishers are included in JCCC@INDEST.
